There are two types: the Standard CSR, a 200 point check covering mechanical, bodywork, running gear, electrical and aesthetic. It will check not only condition but also our experts will comment on originality- this can make a huge difference to the value of a classic car. The CSR Max has all this but also more detailed engine and running gear checks, and historical research which is beautifully bound into a presentation booklet, excellent for helping to sell a great car.  

We have recruited specialists from all over the UK to do the checks, and we call them our Associates. Every one must meet high standards of workmanship and customer service, and between them they have hundreds of years worth of experience. We have experts in pretty much every make of car you care to mention: from ash-framed vintage Bentley to retro-sport Fords. Some will travel to inspect cars, but all are experts in their own right.    

John is the MD, and an Alfa fanatic (his present car is a ’70 1750 Spider). Mark, the website designer has a MG Midget, Hugo (security seals) has an Austin Healey, and Tim (sales) a ragtop Morris Minor. Professional advice is supplied by David, who has over thirty years in the business and is an expert restorer. This year CSR are also sponsoring classic racer Chris Barns in his MG Midget at various sprints, races, hillclimbs and rallies.

Our Inspections

We realise that there are many, many reasons for wanting a classic car inspected. You may want to buy at a distance and can't see the car yourself. You may not know that particular type of vehicle, or may just want an expert inspection before you part with a large sum of money.

Alternatively, you may be selling a good classic and want to prove to the market that yours is top quality. Or, you may be planning a full restoration and want an independent benchmark set before you send your classic off to be rebuilt. That's why we have expanded our services to offer a wide variety of inspection and research products.

The Standard CSR All of our inspections are based around our standard CSR® 175-point report, which has been specifically designed to take in the huge variety of historic vehicles that are on the roads today. The report is standardised, so you always know what to expect, and easy to understand, even for someone with limited mechanical knowledge. Please remember though that the CSR isn't a warranty or guarantee, and is non- invasive (we don't take any parts off the car).

Additional Inspection Elements

We can provide a wide range of additional inspection elements to create a bespoke package that will suit you perfectly. This may include more detailed general inspections, engine tests (such as testing the compression), electrical checks, chassis inspections and road tests. Just let us know what you require, and we will biuld a package to suit you perfectly.

Historical Research

If you have an interesting or unusual vehicle, or just want to know more about your car, we may be able to conduct historical research tailored exactly to your needs. We can supply original vehicle specification sheets which can be useful when importing a car into another country, and may be able to trace other vehicle history such as evidence of race or rally usage. We can present all of our products in a range of ways to suit your requirements and budget. Auction Pre-Sale Inspections

If you are buying at auction, we can offer an inspection service that is both thorough and timely. We have an agreement in place to offer this service to clients of Bonhams, H&H and Anglia Car Auctions, and can usually arrange inspections through the other auction houses prior to standard viewing.
